April 17, 2008, Fran Thornton, Susan Vogt, Karen Blue, Viki Diaz, Angela
Tafel, Michelle Hertzman, Diane Heishman, Stacy Houlihan and Babs Robinson
hosted the "Derby DivasTM" party as a benefit for the Norton
Cancer Institute through the Norton Healthcare Foundation.
A total of $35,535 was raised with $4,358 from a percent of sales for the evening at Rodes For Her. Rodes and Sabrina Hackett are also donating 15 percent of Derby DivasTM merchandise sales during the month of April to Norton Cancer Institute through their Roll For A CureTM Program.
Approximately 250 "girlfriends" attended, enjoyed refreshments, played the Derby DivasTM horserace- themed board game (created by Sabrina Hackett) and socialized throughout the evening. WAVE-TV's Jackie Hays emceed the event and prizes from Rodes, Hats by Heather, Cindy Borders and Pat Gallagher were awarded to the top four players (below) who made it to the final round of the game.
Distinguished servers for the evening included Michael Houlihan, Woodford Webb, Matt Thornton, Danny Tafel, Allen Hertzman, Paul Diaz, Lee Robinson, Todd Schmiedeler and Howard Vogt.
Local artist, Pat Gallagher was also on hand to display his custom "fashion" pieces and Wiltshire Pantry donated the exquisite food for the event. Other in-kind donors included Brown-Foreman, Party Mart, David Scott Salon and Natura Bisse'.
The Norton Healthcare Foundation also held two raffles: one for a Blackberry Farm food and wine experience, and the other for a New York Fashion Weekend experience, sponsored by Rodes. The winners were Meredith Alexander for the Blackberry Farm, and Lynn Jay for the fashion weekend.
